Mortgage Advice Bureau has appointed Alan Richardson to the newly created role of head of protection excellence, bolstering its protection proposition and senior leadership team.

Richardson will report to Andy Walton, protection proposition director at Mortgage Advice Bureau, and will play a central role in shaping and delivering the firm’s protection strategy.

His remit includes supporting the development of strategies, plans and tactics designed to drive sustainable revenue growth, profitability and quality outcomes, while ensuring consumer duty remains embedded at the core of the protection proposition.

He will also work closely with advisers across the network to help embed best practice, improve customer outcomes and support the consistent delivery of high-quality protection advice.

The appointment reflects Mortgage Advice Bureau’s continued focus on raising standards across the protection market and reinforcing protection as a core part of its advice offering.

Walton said: “Protection advice is more important than ever, and Alan’s experience and focus on quality and consumer duty will be instrumental in helping us continue to lead the market.

“Alan brings significant experience in protection distribution and proposition development, and his appointment underlines MAB’s strategic focus on protection as a core pillar of its advice offering.”

Richardson added: “When mortgage brokers provide protection advice, ensuring strong customer outcomes, understanding, and confidence is essential.

“MAB is already doing this incredibly well, and my focus now is building on that success. This includes continuing to embed good outcomes, strengthen protection advice, and help more families and businesses access the cover they need with confidence.”
