Lloyds to shut Irish business bank

Lloyds Banking Group Plc is to close its business banking operation in Ireland by the end of the year.

The operation, Bank of Scotland (Ireland), employs around 800 people. Lloyds says around 90% would move to an independent service company that would administer the business after it has ceased operation in Ireland.

Lloyds said there was little opportunity for growth.
