L&G appoints intermediary chief for GI business

Legal & General has appointed Mark Holweger as its new broker & intermediary director for its general insurance business.

Holweger co-founded Coverwise Ltd, an international online general insurance intermediary and has during his 20 years in the sector, has held senior sales roles at Aviva, Axa and RSA.

Currently, around 80% of Legal & General’s general insurance new business is through broker and intermediary partners, which is supported by a regional sales and marketing team of 33, which he will now head.

Duncan Finch, managing director for Legal & General’s general insurance business, said: “Mark’s strong business expertise and exceptional understanding of what is an extremely important business distribution channel for us will be a huge benefit. Working together closely with our business partners will ensure we continue to offer a business proposition that supports them and provides the opportunity for continuing long term profitability for all.
