LendInvest extends internship programme

Published on

LendInvest has announced a significant expansion of its Mortgage Internship Programme for 2025, extending the duration from 12 to 18 months and broadening its scope to include additional business functions.

The decision follows the success of the fintech platform’s inaugural scheme last year, which led to four of its five interns securing full-time roles with the company.

The second cohort of five interns, selected from more than 100 applicants, began their placements at the end of July at LendInvest’s Glasgow office. The group will now undertake an extended rotation across key departments including sales, underwriting, case management, risk and compliance, product and marketing.

Each participant will also work toward a Certified Practitioner in Specialist Property Finance (CPSP) qualification.

Emma Kelson (pictured), head of people development at LendInvest, described the initiative as a reflection of the firm’s ongoing commitment to nurturing talent. “Our first programme was a tremendous success,” she said.

“I’m especially excited that we’ve decided to extend the programme to a total of 18 months and include other functions of the business. This added time and learning allows our newest interns to get an in-depth understanding of not only how our business works, but also how our culture can lead to a meaningful and rewarding career.”

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants underwent a rigorous selection process, which included interviews, presentations and group activities before the final five were chosen in June. The 2025 cohort represents a diverse range of backgrounds in terms of education, age and experience.

Daniel O’Connor

Daniel O’Connor, chief operating officer at LendInvest, said the company had seen clear value in continuing and expanding the initiative.

“By extending the programme by 6 months, along with opening up other areas of the business, we’re allowing our new cohort to get a deeper understanding of how the property finance industry functions through real-world experience,” he said.

“This year’s group of interns are impressive and intelligent, and I look forward to watching them develop and kick off their careers in property finance here at LendInvest.”

The internship is centred at the firm’s Glasgow hub, which O’Connor noted benefits from proximity to a strong pipeline of talent from nearby universities and colleges.
