Emmerdale star John Middleton visited Leeds Building Society’s Head Office to receive a £7,500 donation on behalf of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Middleton, who plays Ashley Thomas in the long-running TV soap, accepted the donatio,n which is the annual payment from Leeds Building Society’s Caring Saver account. The Society donates 1% of the average balance in all Caring Saver accounts shared equally between its four charity partners; Marie Curie Cancer Care, Age UK, Variety the Children’s Charity and the Leeds Building Society Charitable Foundation.

Kim Rebecchi, Leeds Building Society’s sales and marketing director, said: “We were delighted to welcome John to our Head Office to receive this £7,500 donation for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

“Our Caring Saver account offers an attractive rate of interest plus easy access to your money. Charity supporters often make donations straight out of their own pocket and that is where the Caring Saver is different, providing customers with a competitive rate of return on their savings and making a difference to people who really need it at the same time.”

Brian Curran, Marie Curie Cancer Care’s regional corporate development manager, said: “We are extremely grateful to Leeds Building Society for their continued support. Our nurses and Bradford Hospice continue to care for people throughout the festive season, and offer support not only to our patients but their families as well.”
