Leeds cyclists ride 70 miles for charity

27 cyclists from the Leeds Building Society completed the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride and raised over £4,500 for charity.

They were among 2,000 riders on the annual 70-mile sponsored charity cycle, from Wetherby to Filey.

The team’s £4,550 fundraising includes £1,000 in matched funding from the Leeds.

The Great Yorkshire Bike Ride supports a varied group of charities each year, including Hollybank Trust.

Hollybank, which cares for children and adults with multiple and profound disabilities, is a charity with close connections to colleagues at the Society, and is one of the charities they voted to support throughout the year.

The Society’s team entry was co-ordinated by Kevin Mowles, head of business support, who said: “The route was scenic and quite hilly in parts, so a challenge to some of our first timers, however all riders made it back.

“The event was really well organised, fantastic marshalling with excellent food and drink stops. We had family and friends waiting at the end with welcome cold drinks, there were also representatives from Hollybank at the finish line to cheer us in.”
