Just Mortgages to host shared ownership event

Just Mortgages is hosting its first annual New Build and Affordable Housing Event on 31 March at Whittlebury Hotel, Northampton.

The full day event is free to attend and focuses on the financing of shared ownership and the role of housing associations, local authorities, developers and lenders. There will be an exhibition, seminars and panel sessions featuring key lenders within the shared ownership space.

Speakers include: Homes England, Barclays, Halifax, Santander, Nationwide, Skipton Building Society, Mortgage Brain and more.

John Doughty, financial services director, Just Mortgages’ new build division, said: “All of our brokers across the whole of the country are receiving much more interest in shared ownership than they ever have before. In addition, housing associations are providing more new shared ownership homes as well as seeing a rise in enquiries.

“We felt it was an ideal time to get people together who shared a common interest in affordable home ownership. Our New Build and Affordable Housing Event is a first for the sector and will be a great learning and networking opportunity for lenders, housing associations and other interested parties.”

Andy Dean, head of intermediary support & new build at Nationwide, said: “Shared ownership continues to play a crucial role in helping people realise their aspirations of owning a home of their own, so we’re delighted to be supporting Just Mortgages New Build with this event.

“It comes at a time when saving for a deposit as well as the ability to borrow enough on their mortgage continues to be a significant hurdle to home ownership. As a mutual, Nationwide was founded to help people into their first home and this remains at the heart of what we do today as we continue to play our part in tackling those key challenges.”

Rachael Hunnisett, national accounts & new build lead at Skipton Building Society for Intermediaries, added: “Affordable housing plays a crucial part in helping more people onto the property ladder. As the new build market evolves after the withdrawal of Help to Buy in 2023, it is fundamental that we invest time discussing the options available to first-time buyers.

“It’s a fantastic idea to dedicate an event to this subject and a privilege to be asked to speak at the Just Mortgages shared ownership event. I look forward to taking part and hearing the other keynote speakers throughout the day, as well as speaking with the delegates attending.

“Events like this provide us with an opportunity to listen to broker feedback first hand, which we use at Skipton to shape our lending proposition.”
