Just Mortgages strengthens self-employed recruitment team with senior hire

Published on

Just Mortgages has expanded its self-employed recruitment operation with the appointment of Sascha Mason as senior recruitment consultant.

The brokerage, which is approaching 500 self-employed advisers nationwide, said Mason will play a central role in growing the division as part of its wider strategy to attract experienced advisers, career changers and those looking to move away from more corporate structures.

FOCUS ON BUSINESS PRINCIPAL SUPPORT

Mason joins from The Recruitment Experts and brings experience in financial services recruitment, head-hunting and self-employment, as well as a background as a mortgage adviser at London & Country Mortgages. Earlier in her career she worked at Barclays in customer care roles.

Her remit at Just Mortgages will include strengthening recruitment pipelines for the firm’s business principals, helping them source adviser talent at no cost to their businesses. This includes multi-disciplined advisers and protection-only specialists, reflecting increasing demand across the network.

The support offered to business principals has been a significant driver of adviser growth at Just Mortgages, which now has more than 650 advisers across the group, including those within estate agency branches and the new build division.

THE RIGHT FIT

Mason said: “As soon as Kara reached out about this opportunity, I knew it was the right fit for me. Self-employed recruitment is a really rewarding role, working with employed advisers to give them the confidence to open the door to launching their own business.

“It’s clear how important that is here at Just Mortgages, making that move less scary for advisers by showing them what is in place and how they will be supported.

“It’s really impressive what Just Mortgages has to offer and it’s great to be able to talk to lots of different people about potential roles, including trainee or new brokers who don’t always get many opportunities.

“My experience so far has been really positive, working with such a nice team who couldn’t be more helpful. It’s clear that people are proud to work here and I’m already feeling that too.

“It’s great to already be having really positive conversations with some really strong candidates and to be working closely with both area directors and business principals who are grateful for the support and eager to grow their teams.”

Ben Allkins, head of mortgages and protection at Just Mortgages, said: “This year has been a bumper year for our self-employed division, with high levels of interest and applicants.

“A key driver behind this growth has been our emphasis on supporting the recruitment efforts of our business principals – giving them access to talented advisers to really scale their businesses.

“Adding Sascha to team means we can build on this tremendous work and continue to best serve our principals and the wider division.

“Given her experience in financial services recruitment, self-employment and as a mortgage adviser herself, Sascha is a fantastic addition to our team.

“Increasing the talent in our recruitment team is a key part of our strategy as we head into 2026 and continue in our mission to grow the division and demonstrate a better and more complete way for ambitious advisers to go self-employed.”
