HML makes donation to money management charity

HML has donated £20,000 to The Money Charity to fund money management workshops for young people across Yorkshire.

The donation will help the UK’s only dedicated financial capability charity deliver 100 hours of workshops to around 2,500 young people in schools and colleges across the county.

Andrew Jones, CEO at HML, said: “Helping to teach money management to children at a young age means they are far more likely to find financial stability and success later in life.

“We’re delighted to be working with The Money Charity to improve financial wellbeing across Yorkshire; as mortgage servicers we see first-hand how difficult it is for some families to make ends meet.

“HML is fully committed to playing a leading role in the creation of a Northern Powerhouse, not only through financial success and growth, but also through supporting communities, sharing knowledge and investing in the future of Yorkshire and beyond.”

Michelle Highman, chief executive of The Money Charity, said: “A third of us face financial problems by the time we’re 24. With support from HML, The Money Charity can begin to foster positive relationships with money and make sure that young people never slip into financial problems simply because they don’t have the skills to manage.

“We are very grateful for HML’s kind donation. With it we can help build the skills and knowledge young people in Yorkshire need to make the most of their money and achieve what they want with their lives.”

The sessions will be delivered by expert presenters and provide ‘the building blocks to sound money management’, including a range of activities, the chance to debate and discuss, and relevant material for participants to take away.
