Martin Berry of HML

HML has appointed Martin Berry as head of compliance.

Berry joins from KPMG where he has spent the last couple of years as a manager in its risk consulting division fulfilling a number of compliance oversight roles in the banking and insurance sectors.

During his 12 year career in financial services compliance he has worked in the IFA sector for Sesame and several national IFAs, along with a number of life assurance companies.

He has also completed an MBA with Manchester University, which included a six month stint studying at The University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Berry said: “The final MMR is set to create challenges for all companies operating in the mortgage market and it makes sense for HML to strengthen its regulatory expertise at this time.

“The team here are already valued by our clients to provide a sounding board or second opinion for in-house teams and I look forward to building on those relationships so our expertise becomes invaluable to the companies we work on behalf of.”

Chief risk officer Jonathan Pattinson added: “Martin’s joining us at a crucial and exciting time in the mortgage industry. We’re pleased to have him on board.”
