Hastings Retail appoints new managing director

Tobias van der Meer has just been appointed as the new managing director of Hastings Retail at Hastings Direct.

Van der Meer will join the business on 1 June and will report directly to Hastings Direct CEO, Edward Fitzmaurice.

Hastings Retail comprises the broking operations of Hastings trading under the brands of Hastings Direct, Insure, Renew, Likewise and Hastings Partnerships.

He was previously a managing director at moneysupermarket.com, where he was responsible for the money and broker lead businesses and all front and back office operations.

Prior to moneysupermarket.com, he spent nearly a decade in direct banking including senior positions with Egg, Citigroup and the Anglo Irish Bank.

Fitzmaurice said: “Tobias has deep insight into the needs of customers for financial service products and was instrumental in profitably growing the customer bases at moneysupermarket.com
