Gilmour will step down at the end of May and will be succeeded by Douglas Brown, currently chief operating officer, Canada Life, UK Division. He will retain a number of non-executive roles with the organisation.

Brown joined Canada Life in 2012 after holding senior positions with AVIVA Europe, where he was chief risk officer, and with AIG in the UK, where he was general manager of the ALICO UK branch.
