Council of Mortgage Lenders

Fleet Mortgages, the new buy-to-let and specialist lender, has joined the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML).

The new lender, which is due to launch in mid-November, is a new lender based in Fleet, Hampshire and is led by Bob Young as CEO.

It will lend exclusively through the intermediary sector initially offering buy-to-let mortgages for residential landlords as well as limited companies and those seeking finance for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs).

Young said: “We fully recognise the importance of a strong trade association for the lending community which is why we have made it a priority to join the CML. The CML has a proven track record in terms of influencing political debate and helping develop the UK mortgage market to ensure it is regulated proportionally and has a sustainable environment for responsible lending.

“We also have a considerable amount of respect and admiration for the sterling job Director General, Paul Smee, does. Paul leads from the front and is a true driving force pushing the association on to greater heights.

“By becoming a member of the CML, Fleet Mortgages can not only benefit from the work and support of the CML but it also means we can take a full and frank part in the key issues facing mortgage lenders, advisers and consumers. We fully intend to feed in our own experiences and viewpoints to the ongoing debates taking place and ensure that the buy-to-let and specialist lending fraternity is strongly represented.

“Membership of the CML has been one of the crucial steps to achieve for the business as we move towards our mid-November product launch and we are delighted to have achieved it.”
