The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will be providing the keynote address at the Financial Services Expo (FSE) Manchester exhibition.

Lynda Blackwell, mortgages and mutuals sector manager at the FCA, and one of the chief architects of the Mortgage Market Review (MMR), will be speaking about the new mortgage market environment now the new rules have landed plus will be providing an update on the current live issues under consideration by the regulator.

She will also be looking ahead to the European Mortgage Credit Directive and outlining some of the changes this will mean for the UK market.

FSE Manchester will also offer a range of presentations with a seminar programme put together by the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI). The show is aimed at the entire advisory community in the North. It takes place on Wednesday 21 May 2014 at Emirates Old Trafford, the new name for the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club.

Over 35 exhibitors are signed up to appear including lenders such as Accord, Aldermore, the Leeds Building Society, the Nationwide, Precise, Santander and Skipton Building Society.

James Prosser, director of Front Events, organisers of the show, said: “Given the fact FSE Manchester is taking place less than a month after the introduction of the MMR we know how important it will be for advisers to hear from the regulator on the new environment and what they see as they key issues for our marketplace post-MMR.

“This is why we are delighted to announce Lynda Blackwell as our key note speaker at the exhibition on the 21st May and I’m sure all attendees will relish the chance to hear from the FCA and put their thoughts and questions to her about the practicalities of working in this ‘new world’.

“AMI has also put together a quality programme of seminars which offer something for everyone including a look at the state of the economy and the housing/mortgage market plus a review of some potentially exciting business areas such as equity release and second-charge loans. Our panel debate will feature an array of experienced industry players providing attendees with the chance to quiz some of the major players at both lenders and distributors. Coupled with the array of exhibitors we have at the show we believe FSE Manchester is a must-attend event for all those working in the advisory profession in the North. We look forward to seeing you all in Manchester next month.”
