Equity release seminar programme taking place in July

Responsible Equity Release and product provider LV= are hosting a national series of seminars in July aimed at helping intermediaries learn more about equity release.

Five seminars will take place from 11-15 July, in Bristol, Solihull, Leeds, Ashton under Lyne and London. They will focus on helping intermediaries to better understand equity release in order to identify potential clients, as well as offering advice on how to engage and present equity release to clients.

The seminars are designed to help those intermediaries who are in the process of getting qualified to market equity release products, or are planning to be qualified in the future.

Steve Wilkie, managing director of Responsible Equity Release, said: “When we surveyed 200 brokers recently and asked them why they registered for an Equity Release Starter Pack, six out of ten (60%) said it was because at least one client had asked them about the available products.

“It is clear, that more brokers want to add this product to their revenue streams but are unsure how to talk to clients in this space. Our seminars will help them to understand what an equity release client looks like, and how they engage with them in an appropriate fashion about the products.

“We’re not surprised about the recent spike in brokers approaching us given the positive national press coverage that equity release is consistently receiving. Brokers are finding more and more clients are calling them for advice about these products.

“Through informative seminars, we hope to develop the intermediary community into a space where they are comfortable talking about the products, even if they then decide to refer the clients for specialist, regulated advice.”
