Double digit house price fall year-on-year

UK house prices in June were 10.7% lower than one year ago, according to the latest UK house price index statistics from the department for Communities and Local Government

The mix-adjusted average house price in the UK stood at £191,423 in June 2009 (not seasonally adjusted). UK house prices rose by 2.6% in the quarter ending June 2009. This compares with a fall of 3.8% for the quarter ending March 2009

Annual average house prices fell in England (-10.7%), Wales (-12.2%), Scotland (-7.1%) and Northern Ireland (-23.0%)

Annual average house prices paid by first time buyers in June 2009 were 11.7% lower than a year ago. By comparison average house prices paid by former owner occupiers were 10.3% lower.
