Friends Life has announced the appointment of David Still to the newly created position of director of retirement income.

He joins Friends Life in June from UBS, and has over 20 years experience in the life industry, including senior positions at Prudential and Paternoster.

Still will oversee, develop and implement the at-retirement strategy for the business, which is seen as key to the new Friends Life strategy outlined in the first quarter this year.

Trevor Matthews, CEO of Friends Life, said: “David’s appointment lays down a clear marker that Friends Life is firmly committed to developing the annuity business and building industry-leading at-retirement solutions. David will play a pivotal role in developing our future strategy and ensuring our customers are given the best possible choices at this important juncture in their lives.””
