CQS to become essential: OpenConvey

OpenConvey has welcomed the CML’s view that the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) will become a prerequisite for conveyancers who want to represent lenders.

Coles Miller Solicitors LLP in Bournemouth &lta href=&quothttps://mortgagesoup.co.uk/story.php?id=20702&quot&gtrecently became the 100th firm&lt/a&gtto join since the new scheme opened for applications in January.

Jonathan Hall, OpenConvey’s operations director, said the CQS would “definitely help”” to drive up standards: “”The CQS is an initiative from the Law Society which goes a long way to re-establishing confidence among lenders in the wake of some high profile fraud cases involving the conveyancing of property. It will become a benchmark which will definitely help to promote best practice and will also help to reinforce consumer confidence in the conveyancing process.
