Conveyancing Foundation donates £50k to cancer charity

Newport-based law firm Convey Law has raised £50,000 for Children with Cancer through the Conveyancing Foundation’s Free Legal Fee Competition.

Convey Law is a founding member of the Conveyancing Foundation which has been established to assist conveyancing lawyers in generating funds for their chosen charities.

Over the course of the last five years the Free Legal Fee Competition has raised over £440,000 for a variety of charities with over £86k being raised in 2016 alone.

As part of the fund-raising for Children with Cancer, three individuals from Convey Law – Lloyd Davies, Rory Brown and Geraint Aubrey – took part in its Three Peaks National Challenge last year, climbing Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowden in 24 hours.

Lloyd Davies, Conveyancing Foundation chairman,  said: “The Free Legal Fee Competition is a fantastic opportunity for conveyancers to raise funds for their chosen charities. Wilson Nesbitt Solicitors and Bright LLP joined the competition last year and are now busy raising thousands of pounds for their separate charities.

“It would not have been possible for Convey Law to raise £50k for Children with Cancer last year without the help of our clients through the Conveyancing Foundation Free Legal Fee Competition. Approximately 80% of our clients make a £10 donation on completion of their property transaction, with £1 going towards the £500 monthly lottery draw and £9 collecting Gift Aid, making every donation a minimum of £11.25 for the charity.

“This is a fantastic competition and one that all conveyancing firms can take part in. The competition is very easy to implement – a full tool-kit and details of how the competition works is available on the Foundation website at: www.conveyancingfoundation.org.uk.”
