Convey Group achieves Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation

Published on

The Convey Group has achieved the highest level of cybersecurity accreditation offered by a UK government-backed scheme, Cyber Essentials, which ensures the best available security policies and processes are in place to thwart the growing threat of cybercrime.

The online conveyancing practice has been awarded Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, which means it provides the best possible level of cybersecurity for legal businesses in the UK. Cyber Essentials Plus is estimated to protect against over 80% of cyber-attacks.

Accreditation for Cyber Essentials Plus involves a rigorous process in which businesses applying are independently assessed and their IT systems are tested to verify their integrity against outside threats, including subjecting them to a simulated external attack.

Joe Norris, Convey Group IT director, said: “We were very pleased to have achieved the highest level of accreditation on our first attempt, which is unusual when such exacting standards are required.

“The accreditation not only demonstrates commitment to cyber security and control of your business network security but also protects your business from data theft and helps drive business efficiency and cost savings.

“Cybercrime is a growing area of crime and we must always stay vigilant and be aware of potential cybercrime threats. We are committed to maintaining and building on the security of our IT systems to do our utmost to protect current and future clients.”

Lloyd Davies (pictured), the group’s managing director, said the Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation was “a fantastic cyber security milestone for the Convey Group” and praised the hard work of his IT team.

Davies added: “We remain committed to the highest levels of security for our clients which we are achieving through continuously developing our state of the art conveyancing software and subjecting it to such rigorous external assessment as that required to achieve Cyber Essentials Plus.

“The internal training of our staff on the dangers and techniques used by cyber criminals is so very important – as is reminding our clients of the risks to their IT systems, which we have no control over.

“It is a worrying time for everyone in the industry. Hopefully by sharing best practice, IT systems and training we can make our world a safer place for all concerned.”
