Co-Op Insurance doubles efforts with Shelter

Co-operative Insurance has committed to doubling its support to Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity, this Christmas.

This comes as repossession figures are predicted to break the 50,000 barrier in 2010.

At the start of 2009 the Co-operative Insurance agreed, as part of a campaign, to donate £10 to Shelter for every new business home insurance policy taken out.

Throughout December, The Co-operative Insurance will commit to doubling its support to Shelter in 2009 and will increase the volume of donations made by extending its commitment to every home insurance policy bought online and is hoping to raise £24,000.

The Co-op Bank claims that since the beginning of 2009 it has been involved in only 19 repossessions, equating to less than 0.03% of its mortgage book.
