The CML welcomes three new members

Three new members have joined the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML).

The trio are the private bank Hampden & Co, the Stafford Railway Building Society and the West Bromwich Building Society.

Hampden & Co is an independent private bank operating from offices in Edinburgh and London. It claims it will aim to building lasting relationships founded on the basic principles of “honesty, integrity and fairness”, and caring for the individual, their families and business interests. It expects to welcome its first clients during the first quarter of this year.

Stafford Railway Building Society was established in 1877, and sets out to offer straightforward, good value products, backed by a plain-speaking, friendly service. It is committed to the principles of mutuality and aims to put customers first and foremost.

The West Bromwich Building Society was founded more than 160 years ago in 1849 on the abiding principle of supporting the local community. A regional society with an extensive network of branches across the Black Country and Birmingham, and with an important presence in mid-Wales and Shropshire, it is the seventh largest building society in the UK with some 464,000 members.

It was originally formed by 20 local citizens with the aim helping people better themselves through savings and the security of owning their own homes. The society remains committed to the principles of mutuality and contributing to the communities it serves, including support for charities.

The CML now has 126 members, a further eight members that are third party administrators and 76 associates.
