Association of Independent Financial Advisers

Clare Griffiths has joined the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA) as senior policy adviser.

She joins AIFA from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) and will provide support to Chris Hannant, AIFA’s policy director, on all regulatory and legislative issues affecting members.

“Clare will provide strength and expertise to the team and help us represent member interests,” said Hannant. “Her background of over 20 years’ experience in financial services and in particular compensation schemes will provide vital insight and analysis into an area critical to the profession.

“Clare’s experience will also help us to maintain the robust but constructive dialogue necessary with regulators.”

Griffiths added: “Advisers face a challenging environment ahead of RDR implementation and it is important that they have a strong membership body to represent them.

“The policy team will continue to work on issues around the RDR including adviser charging and the use of platforms. The issue of Compensation Scheme funding is high on the agenda for advisers. I look forward to supporting Chris and AIFA in representing the interests of members in addressing the threats and opportunities facing the advice profession.”
