Affordable housing conference to be held next month

The CML is to hold a conference on the future for affordable housing.

Key issues and challenges will come under the scrutiny of a line-up of industry speakers at a mortgage lending and affordable housing conference, to be held on 1 March.

The event, jointly hosted by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and the CML, will look at ways of financing and delivering low-cost home-ownership. The provision of intermediate housing is seen as crucial in providing future homes in a balance of tenures.

Key questions the conference will consider include: How are local authorities to deliver new housing in future and who are their key partners? Will lenders see opportunities in advancing mortgages on a shared ownership or shared equity basis?

The mortgage lending and affordable housing conference, the only one run jointly by the HCA and the CML, will address all the key issues for lenders, as well as providing insight for local authorities and housing associations on how to improve the “mortgageabilit””y of the intermediate homes they deliver.
