AFB could be shut down or merged with AMI

The director of the Association of Finance Brokers (AFB) says it’s not inconceivable the trade body could be shut down or merged with the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) as part of a strategic review.

It was announced last week that the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA), AFB and AMI will undergo a three-month review, following Stephen Gay’s recent appointment as director-general of the three organisations.

Robert Sinclair , director of the AFB, said nothing is on or off the agenda in terms of the strategic review: “It might be that we make no changes
