Square 1 Media is to hold its next Mortgage Market Debate on Wednesday, 21 May, at RSA House in London.

The invite-only 90-minute panel discussion will bring together industry figures to discuss the modernisation of home buying and selling, focusing on digitalisation, leasehold reform, and transaction efficiency.

The debate will examine the government’s latest initiatives to streamline property transactions, improve data access, and enhance digital processes. Industry figures will explore the impact of these changes on transaction times, the business opportunities they create, and the challenges that must be addressed.

KEY PANEL MEMBERS

The discussion will be chaired by Victoria Hartley, client services director at Square 1 Media, and panellist will include:

  • Esther Dijkstra, managing director of intermediaries, Lloyds Banking Group
  • John Baguley, principal, UK Finance
  • Seb Murphy, group director, JLM Mortgage Services
  • Esther Morley, executive director, ColCap UK
  • Paul Albone, non-executive director, Open Property Data Association (OPDA)

Following the debate, a Q&A session will allow attendees to engage directly with the speakers on the latest developments in UK home buying and selling.

INDUSTRY INSIGHT

Paul Hunt, managing director at Square 1 Media, said: “The Mortgage Market Debate has become a key event for decision-makers across the UK mortgage and specialist finance industry.

“This session’s focus on modernising home buying and selling comes at a crucial time, as the government’s proposed reforms seek to address long-standing inefficiencies in the property transaction process.

“We are proud to bring together some of the most influential voices in the industry to explore the opportunities and challenges these changes offer. I look forward to another lively and insightful debate.”

PLATINUM SPONSOR

CLSQ, a provider of property data and insurance, has been announced as the event’s platinum sponsor. The company supports over 25% of loan originations annually in the UK, helping lenders, conveyancers, and insurers make faster, data-driven decisions.

Lorenzo Tejada-Orrell, chief innovation officer at CLSQ, added: “At CLSQ, we’re proud to be the Platinum Sponsor of the 2025 Mortgage Market Debate – an event that consistently brings together the industry’s top decision-makers to tackle the most pressing challenges in mortgages and specialist finance.

“Having experienced first-hand the value of this forum, we know it offers a unique opportunity to engage with key stakeholders, drive meaningful conversations, and explore innovative solutions shaping the future of home ownership, buying and selling.
