Self-employed division expansion at Just Mortgages

Published on

Just Mortgages is expanding its self-employed division, four months after its launch.

The division was introduced to cater for mortgage brokers who would prefer to be self-employed and run their own businesses rather than being employed.

The self-employed division is on target to have hit its year-end headcount by September and expects to have more than doubled its original planned number of recruits of 50 brokers by the end of the year. It is then planning to have 150 brokers by the end of 2017.

Just Mortgages is already the largest AR in the Openwork network. It has brought forward plans to appoint a sales director, having this week appointed Rob Perrin in the role. Perrin joins from Countrywide, having worked in the mortgage market for more than 10 years.

Perrin will be working with the Just Mortgages’ brokers to help them to identify both lead sources and introducers. In addition, it offers a ‘no monthly fees’ structure, which has contributed to the rapid growth in broker numbers in the division.

Carl Parker, head of Just Mortgages self-employed division, said: “I worked with Rob at Countrywide where he was the top performing sales manager for a number of years. Rob’s experience, knowledge and passion for his people will fit perfectly with what we are achieving here at Just Mortgages and I am really pleased to have brought such an experienced sales manager on board as I know he will add real value to our brokers’ businesses.

“Due to our current success in recruitment I have brought Rob in a few months earlier than planned, and I have no doubt that he will be instrumental in helping us drive our results and headcount even higher.”

Perrin said that he was “ecstatic to be joining the Just Mortgages self-employed division.” Having worked in the mortgage sector for the past 10 years, he said, “I recognise that this is a natural next step for many employed brokers. The opportunity for a broker to run their own mortgage and protection business, whilst at the same time receiving full support and guidance, is extremely exciting for both parties. The support and the potential for a broker with Just Mortgages was a real eye opener for me.”

Just Mortgages anticipates bringing on board another experienced sales director by the beginning of October, which will enable it to increase both volumes and headcount in readiness for 2017.

Parker said: “We are currently seeing applications come in from brokers across the country, some looking to take their first steps into self-employment while other brokers are already self-employed but are unhappy with their current support, remuneration or both, who find that the Just Mortgages proposition is far more attractive.”
