McCormack to lead Barclays UK’s intermediary strategy

Published on

Barclays UK has announced the appointment of Roland McCormack as its new head of mortgage intermediaries.

The newly created managing director-level post is a cornerstone of a broader leadership restructure aimed at bolstering the bank’s intermediary presence and market share.

McCormack (pictured), who brings more than three decades of experience in the mortgage sector, will formally take up the role on 1 July and report to Lee Chiswell, head of mortgages at Barclays UK.

In his new position, McCormack will take charge of the intermediary channel strategy, working to enhance the broker experience and influence the design and delivery of Barclays’ wider mortgage offering.

The appointment underscores the lender’s renewed focus on the intermediary market, which it says remains a critical channel for distribution and customer acquisition.

Prior to joining Barclays, McCormack held a number of senior leadership roles at TSB Bank. As mortgage distribution director, he was instrumental in establishing and growing TSB’s intermediary proposition from scratch – a track record that Barclays appears keen to leverage as it reaffirms its commitment to brokers.

Chiswell said: “The advice process plays a vital role in helping borrowers navigate the homebuying journey. We’re deeply committed to helping brokers succeed and want to make it even easier to do business with us.

“We’re delighted to welcome Roland whose appointment, along with our new team structure, reflects our ambition to offer a best-in-class, compliant, and competitive intermediary proposition.”
